EXCLUSIVE New Shots from the Set of SUGAR

Check out these shots (with ACTORS! Yey!) from the SUGAR set:

This is a shot of (from left to right) Austin Williams (Ronnie), William Peltz (Free), Shenae Grimes (Sugar), Marshall Allman (Marshall) and Scottie Epstein (Joey) walking down the street during one of the more carefree moments in the film:

Here is Angus MacFadyen who plays Uncle Gene in the film... joking with SUGAR Director, Rotimi Rainwater. Did I mention how much I love Angus MacFadyen?  ROBERT THE BRUCE, y'all!!!  He garners a serious "I'm not worthy!" attitude from yours truly. I cannot WAIT to see this film.

SUGAR Filming/Cast Update

OK y'all... so the film shoot is underway! It's very exciting! From what I'm hearing, they've shot the first two scenes... and "Wes Studi is amazing" according to Mr. Rainwater.

Here are some cast updates I recently (as in five minutes ago LOL) added to the CAST page:

Wes Studi (Avatar, Last of the Mohicans) is playing "Bishop". (Um, Hi, WES STUDI?? Awesome!)

Corbin Bleu (The Beautiful Life, High School Musical) is playing "Sketch".

William Peltz (Entourage, Abduction) is playing "Free".

and one that made me flip OUT when I found out this morning:

Angus MacFadyen (BRAVEHEART, The Saw films) is playing "Uncle Gene".

Angus MacFadyen, y'all!  This is causing quite a stir over at myoutlanderpurgatory.com. Everyone is trying to decide who they want him to play in the new film adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" that's being written as we speak. So you can imagine how stoked I am that he's going to be in SUGAR!!!!!

Stay tuned!

Oh it is ON!!

Filming is officially under way, y'all! Stay tuned!

Shenae Grimes is All About Skateboarding

How CUTE is this photo of Shenae at the skate shop,  y'all??? I can't stand it! She looks adorable in her helmet. (That would SO be me with the mega double grande Starbucks cup; decaf of course!) Apparently she's getting some skateboarding pointers for the film. Stay tuned!

Rotimi and Shenae visit "My Friend's Place"

Here are some photos of Shenae and Rotimi (along with Michael Kass and Rotimi's assistant), spending some time at My Friend's Place - a drop-in center for homeless youth in Hollywood - doing research for the film.

The people behind SUGAR are partnering up with My Friend's Place to bring awareness to the growing problem of homeless kids in LA.

Here are Shenae and Rotimi trying out a Cirque du Soleil-sponsored exercise called Cirque du Monde - an outreach program for homeless children at My Friend's Place.

 From Rotimi:

The thought is that when kids have fun, they forget about their troubles for that moment. The key behind the tightrope is that when they do it, they have to reach out for help and for some it will be the first time they've equated touch with something good.

Check out Cirque du Soleil's "Cirque du Monde" page to learn more about this wonderful program that has been running for 15 years!

Cast Updates!

The CAST page has recently been updated to reflect new cast members such as Evan Ross (yes he's the singer/actor son of Diana Ross!)... Austin Williams (Michael Clayton) and the one and only Nastassja Kinski!

They join Shenae Grimes, Marshall Allman and Alex Meraz, y'all! Talk about a stellar cast!!!

"Rainwater Takes on SUGAR"

Taken from InkTip.com:

Rainwater Takes on "Sugar" - Sep 9, 2010
Rotimi Rainwater with Village Entertainment is collaborating on yet another project, this one titled "Sugar," with writer Tony Aloupis whom he met through InkTip. You might remember reading about them in the trades, Rotimi originally discovered and optioned one of Aloupis' scripts on InkTip titled "Truckstop." He's been developing and packaging the project with Graham Taylor at Endeavor Independent handling financing and distribution. Rotimi has since put together or gotten hired on to a number of different projects with Tony, including "The Meaning of Life," a documentary about the eponymous philosophical conundrum, "Conversations with Andy," a documentary/biopic about the life of Andy Warhol, and "Black Samurai," a reworking of the 1970's graphic novel, and blaxploitation film of the same name. Tony Aloupis is also serving as an Executive Producer on "The Meaning of Life," proving that directors can not only find scripts, but writers and partners through InkTip.

"Sugar" Director: Rotimi Rainwater

Tremendous photo of Mr. Rainwater... don'tcha think?

Marshall Allman

Here's a shot of Marshall Allman, taken by Mr. Rainwater in Hollywood.

You may know Marshall from a little show called TRUE BLOOD. That's right. He's big time. And I'm stoked because the finale is on tonight! I will wait all day to see whether his character, Tommy Mickens hauls off and shoots/stabs/beats or ______ (insert your favorite word of malice here) Sam - or Jessica - or Hoyt. You can feel it in the air. He's going to do SOMETHING!

Lunch with Alex Meraz: Rotimi turns the tables on the Paparazzi

So awhile back some photos started popping up of Alex Meraz having lunch in LA...

Geez, can you not have a panini without the paps on your tail?!

Anyway... what you might not know is that he was having lunch with Rotimi Rainwater... to discuss "Sugar" among other things (like "Four to the Floor" - another project Alex is working on with Mr. Rainwater.)

And what I found so totally cool is that Rotimi turned the tables on the paparazzi and took their photos.  Who would think to do that?! I love how his brain works. He's so visual.

Shenae Grimes

Check out this photo Mr. Rainwater took of Shenae Grimes while they were out at lunch one day.  How cute is she?? And I'm so glad to see I'm not the only only one who can't live without my Blackberry.
