SUGAR to Receive "Community Visions" Award at the Cinema at the Edge Festival!

From Cinema at the Edge:

Closing night will be filmmaker Rotimi Rainwater’s feature film  SUGAR, starring Shenae Grimes (“90210″), Wes Studi (“Avatar”) and Angus Macfadyen (“Braveheart”), about a 20-year-old homeless girl suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome on the streets of Hollywood and Venice Beach. SUGAR has been chosen to receive the  inaugural ‘Community Visions Award’, for it’s balanced and empathetic treatment of an issue that is  close to the hearts of the residents of Santa Monica and Venice.

NEW SUGAR Updates!!!

Some new cool info from SUGAR director, Rotimi Rainwater:

5/2/2013 - We've signed our distribution agreement with Traverse Media for theatrical release for August 2013.  Traverse Media will be releasing the film in Los Angeles and New York along with 3 other cities in August and will be rolling out a "bring it to your city" campaign to expand the theatrical release.  As well we are starting a crowd source funding campaign to help us raise money to provide free meals and screening for homeless youth as well as for the homeless shelters we work with such as "My Friend's Place" in Hollywood.

5/3/2013 - Sugar has been invited to be the closing night film at the Cinema at the Edge Film Festival.  We've decided to screen the film there to support the festival because it supports the Santa Monica and Venice areas where we filmed Sugar.
